Thanks to the leadership of Maryland Senator Chris Van Hollen, Senator Richard Burr, Senator Bob Casey, Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers, Representative Pete Sessions, and former Representative Ander Crenshaw, ABLE accounts across the nation are growing and already providing benefits to thousands of people with disabilities.
Recent recommendations from the National Association of State Treasurers (NAST) ABLE Committee would help ABLE programs become more accessible to a wider group of people with disabilities.
- The ABLE Age of Adjustment Act is intended to increase eligibility based on age of onset of disability from 26 to 46.
- The passage of the Act would help approximately 6 million additional people open ABLE accounts.
- This change would also help ABLE programs move more quickly towards achieving sustainability.
