Maryland ABLE Takes Part in 2025 Treasury Management Training Symposium
The Maryland ABLE team had the pleasure of presenting during the ABLE Savings Plans Network (ASPN) track at the National Association of State Treasurers’ 2025 Treasury Management Training Symposium, held in Baltimore, MD.
On June 3rd, Maryland ABLE Director/ASPN Chair Bette Ann Mobley and Program Manager BreAhn Holloway welcomed attendees to Charm City before leading the “Voice of the Account Holder” session. Participants heard directly from ABLE account holders about how the plans have supported their financial independence, the challenges they’ve encountered, and their hopes for the future of ABLE.
On June 4th, Maryland ABLE champion, Senator Craig Zucker presented as part of session titled “Medicaid, Escheatment, Legislation, and Other Scary Things,” which covered the findings from the ASPN Medicaid survey and highlighted efforts to support recent ABLE-related legislation and ASPN priorities.
Later, Communications & Outreach Manager Kelly Nelson presented during the session titled "Connections that Count: Reaching More with Less," where she discussed Maryland ABLE's partnership with Maryland school districts to implement legislation requiring that information about the program be shared with students and families at all annual education meetings. She highlighted lessons learned during the implementation process, offered recommendations, and shared the positive impact the initiative has had on the financial stability of students with disabilities and their families.
The Treasury Management Training Symposium is an annual event hosted by the National Association of State Treasurers (NAST), bringing together treasury professionals from across the country to share insights, explore best practices, and strengthen public sector financial management strategies.
